Disney+ UK Upcoming Releases: What Is Actually Coming

Disney has started licensing to Netflix. What that means, what is confirmed for Disney+, and when Avengers: Doomsday is likely to stream.

A person marking a date on a wall calendar

Something changed on 4 October, and it matters more than anything arriving in the next few months.

Disney has started licensing its catalogue to Netflix.

Not Marvel. Not Star Wars. Those stay locked to Disney+ and there is no sign of that changing. But Percy Jackson, the Ice Age films, a run of Disney Animation and Pixar titles, and a stack of American drama are all heading to the competition.

Which produces a genuinely absurd situation, and a useful one to understand before you decide what to subscribe to.

Percy Jackson, on two services at once

Series one and two have gone to Netflix, from the beginning of October.

Series three premieres on Disney+ on 20 November 2026.

So a viewer starting the show now would watch two thirds of it on one service and then have to subscribe to another to finish it. Nobody planned that as a viewing experience; it is what happens when a studio decides exclusivity is worth less than a licensing cheque.

The rest of what is going to Netflix

  • All five Ice Age films, for about three months ahead of a new cinema release in February 2027
  • Will Trent, Shifting Gears and Tracker, between November 2026 and February 2027
  • In 2027: Soul, Elio and Raya and the Last Dragon
  • In 2027: the full runs of Felicity, This Is Us and Fresh Off the Boat

One caution. Release dates vary by region and nothing specific has been confirmed for Britain. So treat the dates above as the shape of the deal rather than a UK calendar. Our guide to why titles move between UK services explains why that gap exists.

What this tells you about Disney+ is worth sitting with. If you are subscribing for Marvel or Star Wars, nothing has changed and nothing will. If you are subscribing for Pixar and Disney Animation, some of that is now available elsewhere, and more will be. Our comparison of Disney+ and Netflix in the UK works through what that means for a household choosing between them.

Confirmed and coming: the Disney+ originals

These are Disney’s own productions, which release globally on the same day, so British dates match.

VisionQuest

From 14 October 2026, weekly, with episodes on the 21st and 28th.

Marvel, built around Vision, and the first significant Marvel series since Daredevil: Born Again returned in March. Weekly rather than all at once, which is Disney’s habit with its bigger titles. Our guide to every Marvel film and series in order covers where it sits.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians, series three

20 November 2026. The biggest thing still to come this year, and, as above, the two series before it have gone to Netflix.

Ahsoka, series two

20 January 2027. Live-action Star Wars, following directly from the first run and from Rebels. If you have not watched The Clone Wars or Rebels, this is the point at which that catches up with you, and our guide to every Star Wars title in order sorts out what you actually need.

Coven Academy

Arrived on 2 October with all episodes at once, which is unusual for Disney+. A companion piece, Locker Diaries: Coven Academy, followed on the 17th.

Two films most guides still list as upcoming

Both already streaming, and worth saying because a good deal of coverage has not caught up.

Avatar: Fire and Ash has been on Disney+ since 24 June 2026. Jake and Neytiri’s family dealing with grief while facing the Ash People, led by Varang, with Zoe Saldaña, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet and Stephen Lang.

Toy Story 5 has been there since 23 September 2026.

So when will Avengers: Doomsday be on Disney+?

It reaches British cinemas on 18 December 2026. Disney has announced no streaming date, and we are not going to invent one.

What we can give you is the actual recent evidence, which is more useful than a guess.

Film Cinemas Disney+ Gap
Avatar: Fire and Ash 10 Dec 2025 24 Jun 2026 196 days
Toy Story 5 19 Jun 2026 23 Sep 2026 96 days

So roughly three to six and a half months, and the bigger the cinema performance the longer the wait. Doomsday is expected to be very big indeed, which points towards the longer end — somewhere between March and July 2027 on that evidence.

That is an inference from two data points, clearly labelled as such. Our guide to how long films take to reach streaming in the UK goes through the pattern across every studio.

A warning about every other list of this

Disney announces its monthly line-ups as Disney+ and Hulu, because that is how the service works in America. Britain has no Hulu. That content is carried here under the Star tab, frequently on different dates.

So when you see a list promising the five Hunger Games films, the Die Hard films, Ghostbusters or Hotel Transylvania on Disney+ in October, understand what you are looking at: an American announcement about licensed film packages that are negotiated territory by territory. Some of it will come to Britain. Some of it will not. The dates will frequently differ.

The reliable rule: Disney’s own productions are global and land the same day. Everything else needs checking.

While we are correcting things, one claim circulating is that Star Wars: Visions arrives on 29 October 2026. It does not. Disney’s own October announcement does not mention it. Volume three landed on 29 October 2025, and somewhere along the line the year got dropped.

What the release patterns tell you

Disney+ is more consistent than Prime Video, which runs four different patterns at once, but it is not entirely predictable.

  • Weekly is the default for big originals. VisionQuest is running weekly, as did Ahsoka, Andor and the Marvel series.
  • All at once happens occasionally, mostly for younger-skewing titles. Coven Academy dropped complete.
  • Films arrive without warning, and Disney+ is poor at telling you something has appeared.

If the weekly pattern annoys you, the sensible approach is to wait until a series has finished and then take a month, which suits Disney+ better than almost any other service.

Is any of it a reason to subscribe now?

Honestly, this is a quiet stretch. VisionQuest and Percy Jackson series three are the only substantial things before Christmas, and Avengers: Doomsday is a cinema release rather than a streaming one.

Which makes the case for rotating rather than holding. Disney+’s back catalogue barely changes between release clusters, so there is little lost by leaving and returning in January for Ahsoka. Our guide to cancelling Disney+ in the UK covers doing it cleanly, and our guide to Disney+ UK prices covers the six-month saver if you would rather commit.

If you do stay, the better use of a quiet month is the half of the catalogue most subscribers never open, which our guide to the best series on Disney+ UK goes into. Shogun and The Bear are both sitting there.

Common questions

Is Disney putting its shows on Netflix?

Yes, from October 2026, for non-Marvel and non-Star Wars content. Percy Jackson, the Ice Age films and some Pixar and Disney Animation titles are included. Marvel and Star Wars stay exclusive to Disney+.

Why is Percy Jackson on Netflix and Disney+?

Series one and two were licensed to Netflix. Series three premieres on Disney+ on 20 November 2026. Yes, that is as awkward as it sounds.

What is coming to Disney+ next?

VisionQuest from 14 October, Percy Jackson series three on 20 November, and Ahsoka series two on 20 January 2027.

When will Avengers: Doomsday be on Disney+?

Not announced. Recent Disney films have taken between about 96 and 196 days from cinemas, so somewhere between March and July 2027 is a reasonable expectation rather than a date.

Is Avatar: Fire and Ash on Disney+ yet?

Yes, since 24 June 2026. Toy Story 5 has been there since 23 September.

Do UK and US Disney+ release dates match?

For Disney’s own originals, yes. For licensed films and the American Hulu content carried here under Star, often not.

The short version

The real story is that Disney has begun licensing to Netflix, with Marvel and Star Wars the stated exceptions. Before Christmas there is VisionQuest from 14 October and Percy Jackson series three on 20 November, then Ahsoka series two on 20 January. Avengers: Doomsday is a cinema release on 18 December with no streaming date, and recent form suggests three to six months after that.
