March 2026 turned out to be an unusual month for Netflix UK, and not for the reasons anyone predicted at the time. The biggest title of the month went into British cinemas first, played there for two weeks, and only then landed on Netflix – which is close to the opposite of how Netflix normally works.
That film was Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, and when it did reach Netflix it became the most-watched thing on the service worldwide that week.
This page is a record of what actually arrived on Netflix UK in March 2026, with the real dates, the real numbers and the real reviews. Every figure below carries a link to its source.
For the month before, see our Netflix UK in February 2026 guide. For what is on the service right now, our what’s new on Netflix UK page is kept current.

What That Month Was Actually Made Of
Counting the titles in that list by type gives a better sense of the month than any single headline does. Roughly half of it was Netflix’s own output, and a third was licensed back catalogue.
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man Took the Cinema Route First
This is the story of the month, and it is worth setting out properly because Netflix does not usually do this.
The film premiered at Symphony Hall in Birmingham on 2 March 2026 – the city the series is set in, which is not an accident. It then went into selected UK cinemas on 6 March for a two-week run, and only reached Netflix on 20 March, worldwide (Wikipedia, with sourced references).
| Stage | Date | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| World premiere | 2 March 2026 | Symphony Hall, Birmingham |
| UK cinemas | 6 March 2026 | Selected cinemas, roughly a two-week run |
| Netflix | 20 March 2026 | Worldwide |
| First three days on Netflix | 20–22 March 2026 | 25.3 million views |
| Netflix weekly chart | 16–22 March 2026 | Most-watched title on the service |
| National Film Awards UK | 1 July 2026 | Tom Harper won Best Director; BBC Film won Best Film Production Company |
Steven Knight wrote it and Tom Harper directed. Cillian Murphy returns as Tommy Shelby, with Barry Keoghan as Duke Shelby, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Stephen Graham and Sophie Rundle back as Ada Thorne.
It is set in Birmingham and Liverpool in November 1940, during the Birmingham Blitz, with a plot about Nazi agents trying to flood Britain with counterfeit currency to trigger hyperinflation. So it moves the story forward from where the series ended rather than filling in a gap.
The Reviews Did Not Agree With Each Other
Here is the part worth knowing before you commit an evening to it. The two main review aggregators are 31 points apart on this film, which is a wide gap and tells you something real: critics were split rather than lukewarm.
The two sites measure different things, which explains some of it. Rotten Tomatoes counts the share of reviews that are broadly positive, so a lot of mild approval produces a high number. Metacritic weights the actual scores, so mild approval produces a middling one. A 90% next to a 59 usually means “most critics liked it, few loved it” – and the audience figures line up the same way on each site.

Louis Theroux Arrived on Netflix
The other notable UK arrival in March was Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere, on 11 March 2026. It is a single 90-minute documentary rather than a series, directed by Adrian Choa, and it marks Theroux’s first time presenting for Netflix after a career built at the BBC.
It looks at the online network of creators promoting hypermasculinity and traditional gender roles, and at how controversy gets monetised. The contributors include Harrison Sullivan, Nicolas Kenn De Balinthazy, Amrou Fudl, Justin Waller and Ed Matthews.
Worth being straight about the reception: it was mixed, and the criticism was specific rather than vague. Several reviewers said it broke no new ground and that it lacked female voices on a subject about misogyny – The Independent’s Adam White called it a failure, and The Guardian’s Lucy Mangan raised similar objections. Others thought it was essential viewing on how far these communities reach. Netflix has published no viewing figures for it.
If documentaries are what you come to Netflix for, our true crime documentaries in the UK guide covers that side of the catalogue.
Series and Anime in March 2026
Vladimir, on 5 March, gave Rachel Weisz her first lead role in a Netflix series – a woman whose life comes apart after she becomes obsessed with a colleague.
Virgin River returned for a seventh season on 12 March, and Heartbreak High for a third on 25 March. Both are the kind of returning series that quietly do more for a month’s viewing figures than the headline release does.
For anime, March brought three substantial arrivals: Beastars finished with the second part of its final season on 7 March, One Piece returned for season 2 on 10 March, and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run arrived on 19 March. Our K-drama and anime on UK streaming guide covers where the rest of it sits.
There were also two BTS events in the same week – BTS: The Comeback Live Arirang on 21 March and BTS: The Return on 27 March – plus the Screen Actors Guild Awards streamed live on 2 March.
Licensed Series Were Half the Story
Netflix added a block of older licensed series on 1 March – The Mentalist, One Tree Hill, Person of Interest and Southland – with The Man in the High Castle following on 11 March.
These additions get almost no coverage and often outperform the originals, because a long-running procedural gives people something to put on for weeks rather than an evening. The flip side is that licensed titles are the ones that leave again, so our what’s leaving Netflix UK page is the one to watch if you start a nine-season series.
Films on the licensed side included The Boss Baby on 1 March, with The Garfield Movie, 27 Dresses and The Fall Guy arriving at dates Netflix did not pin down in advance.
What March 2026 Says About Netflix UK
One month is not a trend, but the Peaky Blinders release is worth holding onto, because it cuts against the thing Netflix is usually accused of.
Netflix funded a British film, premiered it in the city it is about, gave it a fortnight in British cinemas, and then put it on the service – where it immediately became the most-watched title worldwide. The cinema run did not cannibalise the streaming numbers. If anything it built them.
